Red lentil soup

Fast and easy to do soup, that takes less than an hour to make. The perfect dish for cold autumn and winter days.

Ingredients (5l soup):

  • 350g red lentils
  • 5 potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup of frozen green peas
  • 200g bacon or sausage thickly sliced
  • 1 cup of tomato puree
  • 3 chopped and peeled tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/3 teaspoon  ground black pepper


  1. Put the lentils into a medium bowl and cover them with cold water, leave for 2 hours for soaking,
  2. Fill a large pot with 4l water, add chopped carrots and potatoes,
  3. Fry the sliced sausage in the pan, and add it to soup,
  4. Add the salt, sweet paprika, pepper and cook the soup for 20 minutes,
  5. Add chopped red pepper, frozen green peas and red lentil, continue cooking for another 20-30 minutes,
  6. At the end add: chopped tomatoes and tomato puree, cook for 5 minutes. Taste and add salt if necessary.
